A topcoat complements the properties of the base coat or galvanic substrate: it enhances corrosion protection.
The basecoat is the zinc flake coating that is applied directly to the substrate. It determines the corrosion protection characteristics of the system, with the zinc making it responsible for the cathodic protection.

The Latin verb corrodere, from which the word ‘corrosion’ is derived, means to decompose, to decay or gnaw to pieces. The best-known form of corrosion is rust: iron or steel reacts to oxygen and water and weathers. The resulting damage is in the billions. No matter whether steel, iron or any other material – it is not possible without reliable corrosion protection!
In addition to the core technologies zinc flake, electroplating and coil coating, we also offer further capable solutions for special areas of use. You can also obtain these from us as a non-licensee.
Opting for the DÖRKEN tinting systems always means a decision for a comprehensive package of service features.

If raw materials, components or semi-finished products are exposed to great heat during their processing, uncontrolled scaling occurs. If this is not removed, it can have a negative influence on subsequent work processes. In the worst case scaling results in material loss or wastage, for example where deep scaling holes render rollers unusable
Whether it is in manufacturing processes or in engineering: when pressure and heat result in small particles being emitted from welded surfaces, sparks are created. These can often be prevented by adapting the current or creating a protective atmosphere – but not always.
Production processes with steel are often greasy and oily. Oils temporarily protect against corrosion, as well as being used as grease or lubricating oils. However, they need to be removed again in downstream processes – for example for effective corrosion protection coating – to ensure that coatings can adhere to the metallic substrate.
Thread-rolling screws have a characteristic property: during assembly, they automatically produce their suitable nut thread by forming the material in the counterpart.
