DELTA

Little gem in the North

The charm of this old house with an outbuilding near Lensahn on the Baltic Sea immediately appears to the observer. The crooked and distorted old walls suggest that the building going back to the 18th century, which is a designated cultural monument, was rebuilt several times. Today the old grain store serves as a residential building. Because the thatched roof was getting on in years and the insulation was not adequate, the owners opted for a re-roofing with thatch and for the improvement of the energy efficiency by using high-quality materials and products such as the tried and tested DELTA®-MAXX PLUS underlay membrane.

As underlay membrane, the roofers used the extremely tear-resistant DELTA®-MAXX PLUS offering a long-term protection against moisture by applying it on the roof area of 186 sqm. It is a proven product made of storable polyester fleece and equipped with a waterproof, vapour-permeable PU coating. With two integrated adhesive strips positioned on the underside of the membrane, the material can be laid in a particularly efficient and economic manner, and a reliable moisture protection for the construction is immediately created.

The underlay membrane is laid from the bottom to the top with the overlap positioned in parallel to the eaves and fixed on the upper edge with staples in the marked overlap area. The tear-resistant and moisture-insensitive cover strip of the self-adhesive tape is simply peeled off whereby the membrane is glued to the overlap area positioned underneath. After that, the membranes are secured with counter battens. In the connecting areas, the roofing professionals achieved wind-proofness by masking them with the product DELTA®-MULTI-BAND.

The different roof pitches did not cause any problems during the installation work. Due to the weather conditions, the installation of the underlay membrane took two working days. The whole roof project on the main building was finalised within five weeks. The thatched roofers confirmed that they often use this underlay membrane, “because it can be installed without great effort and permits great time savings.”
