Con­ver­sion Layer


A conversion layer is a layer on a metal surface that is usually very thin and achieved by a chemical or electrochemical process. The conversion layer contains a proportion of the base metal and elements of the applied paint (e.g. chromating layer, passive layer, phosphate layer).
