Ex­haust air treat­ment


In surface coating technology exhaust air treatment refers to the consistent removal of the exhaust gases, vapours and dust that arise during the coating process. Background: Organic solvents are commonly used to thin the coating material. As these can have a negative effect on the health of people and the environment, the effective purification of process exhaust air prior to entering the atmosphere is of great importance.

Three different processes are suitable for exhaust air treatment:

  1. Thermal exhaust air treatment: all emissions created are incinerated.
  2. Biological exhaust air treatment: environmentally hazardous emissions are broken down by micro-organisms.
  3. Photocatalytic exhaust air treatment: harmful emissions are broken down using UV light before being captured by activated carbon filters.
